Lights Down on Broadway: Here Lies Love’s Closing Night Sparks Emotions and Reflections!

The immersive musical project Here Lies Love, a collaboration between David Byrne and Fatboy Slim, will have its last performance on Broadway on Sunday, November 26. After 33 previews and 150 regular performances, the production—notoriety for its lavish dance club setting, which inspired a major restoration of the Broadway Theatre—will have concluded its run.

The producers considered the path of bringing this avant-garde piece to Broadway in a statement. They underlined the significance of building a committed audience in addition to producing outstanding work with artistic worth, acknowledging the difficulties of bringing a fundamentally different approach to the typical Broadway experience.

Notwithstanding the lessons learned, the creators were proud of what the show brought to Broadway, from the innovative choreography and music to the creative direction and gorgeous design elements.

The first-ever entirely binational producing team was extremely proud to offer the first-ever all-Filipino acting company on Broadway, which drew a wide range of spectators, many of whom were seeing Broadway for the first time, and was met with universal critical acclaim.

The producers feel that Here Lies Love had a big impact on Broadway as a cultural and business venture, and they invite anyone who hasn’t seen the show to go before it closes.

Here Lies Love will be recorded for the Theatre on Film and Tape Archive at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts at Lincoln Center, even though its Broadway run is coming to an end. Furthermore, negotiations are in progress for global performances in Australia and Japan, broadening the scope of this exceptional theatrical performance.
